The personnel of Lexington Logistics (one of the business units that make up London Supply Group, located in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay), proposed to collaborate with the snack center “Merendero de la Obra Padre Víctor.” It is attended daily by 150 children from Barrio Cerrito de la Victoria living in low socio-economic conditions and with educational and nutritional disadvantages.
The assistance provided by this institution consists of a daily snack (Monday through Saturday) that includes all members of the family and a food basket delivered on Saturdays for the weekend.
They have volunteers and social workers to provide additional support for children attending Primary School, and there are also clothing donation drives.
The London Supply Group Foundation, through its Montevideo team, collaborates monthly by donating non-perishable food to the snack site. In 2013, they donated a monthly average of 180kg of food.
Moreover, campaigns are organized on special dates to collaborate with this institution. For example, in 2012, a Christmas lunch was held with games for the children, who were given toys and treats. In 2013, as part of the “Group Hugs” campaign organized annually to celebrate the Day of the Child, socks, gloves, hats and scarves were gathered and donated for the children to have a warmer winter.
