The London Supply Group Foundation organized the paediatric campaign Supersanitos (Superhealthy) that took place from May 22nd to May 24th in the Nursery School “Madre Teresa de Calcuta” in Puerto Iguazú, Misiones.

The idea of the campaign came up during an informal conversation between MD José Alfie and María Taratuty, Director of the Foundation, in which they agreed to gather a group of physicians and take them to Iguazú to conduct health examinations to the students that attend this school. Examinations included paediatric, ophthalmologic and otorhinolaryngologic check-ups as well as controlling vaccine schedules and vaccinating children.

It is worth highlighting the importance of the role played both by the Ministry of Health of the Province of Misiones and Samic Hospital in Puerto Iguazú that always supported the cause enabling human resources and the material needed to implement the daily plan.
The campaign lasted 3 days without interrupting classes and 243 children aged between 45 days and 4 years were examined. Among those children, 50 do not attend the school regularly but live in Primero de Mayo Neighbourhood and were brought to the walk-in clinic set up by Supersanitos to be examined and clear some medical doubts.

Parents were really grateful since for the majority of them, this was the first medical examination for their children. And there is more to come because in addition, with the results obtained during the campaign, dully future monitoring will be conducted and the individualization of some patients suffering from already identified conditions was possible and they will be treated.

Moreover, the Foundation implemented a software tailored for the campaign in which the medical history of all the patients was entered. The information entered in the system will help to dully follow the development of each child and enables the possibility to migrate data to any possible future provincial or national software.

Supersanitos campaign was a remarkable success. Many of the Primero de Mayo Neighbourhood inhabitants are in a situation of social and economic vulnerability that impairs their possibilities to receive treatment in nearby health centres. The campaign had the goal to grant this right to children turning the Nursery School into a health centre contributing to London Supply Group Foundation’s motto: “giving more where there is less”.
