After immense effort, tireless work and a few unexpected setbacks, we were finally able to hand over the keys to the new building built especially for “Las Gaviotas” Experimental Provincial School in the city of Ushuaia, Tierra de Fuego.

This building has turned an entire educational community’s dream into a reality. Since the school was created in 2003, they have had to move between borrowed locations, dreaming of one day having a space of their own.

We were moved by these parents’ and teachers’ struggle to find an adequate place to educate and help their children develop. In 2018, we decided to allocate the money raised during the 14th edition of our Golf Tournament to build this dream school in a lot in Alakalufes II neighborhood, donated by the Municipality of Ushuaia.

After working together with the government, we finished construction at the beginning of this year: an establishment with differentiated spaces which help implement the school’s innovative teaching methods, which follow the guidelines set forth by the “Roberto Themis Speroni” Institute of Higher Education in Buenos Aires.

However, the mandatory and preventive social isolation was declared a few days before the inauguration and our plans had to be suspended. Today, almost three months later, we could finally hand over the keys, so that the director and teaching staff can begin to move school equipment and furniture into the new space, observing current safety guidelines.

We are immensely pleased to know that, when classes are finally resumed, there will be classrooms ready to receive the 130 students who can’t wait to see their new school.
